1. Yhinny says that Frank Gehry's buildings are all over the world? What is her point?
2. Michael suggests that someone like Frank Gehry should use his skills in practical ways like designing bridges rather than for designing aesthetically pleasing buildings. Do you agree? Explain.
3. Some say Frank Gehry doesn't pay enough attention to the environment. Would these students agree with this criticism? would you? Explain.

Don't forget to comment on at least one other student's answers also.

Yes,she said Frank Gehry's buildings are all over the world.
Her point is Frank Gehry's buildings aren't like anything else. It's not traditional,it's morden.

    2. Michael suggests that someone like Frank Gehry should use his skills in practical ways like designing bridges rather than for designing aesthetically pleasing buildings. Do you agree? Explain.
No,I'm not agree with him.His design always use irregular curve, so maybe his design become common in build bridge, but in buildings, it will become a aesthetics.

    3. Some say Frank Gehry doesn't pay enough attention to the environment. Would these students agree with this criticism? would you? Explain.
No,they didn't agree with them, they thought Frank Gehry used many old material, it's better than throw that away.I thought he has pay enough attention to the environment,Because he use many materials that people didn't need it.If Frank Gehry doesn't use it, it would be thrown away,it can pollute the environment.

    1. Hi Yuting ,
I see your point. But Frank Gehry actually liked to utilize the building materials that were easily available to him ,rather than the materials that people abandoned or old material. Thanks.

  2. 1.Yhinny says that Frank Gehry's buildings are all over the world? What is her point?

That means Frank Gehry’s design is popular and distinct same time.

2.Michael suggests that someone like Frank Gehry should use his skills in practical ways like designing bridges rather than for designing aesthetically pleasing buildings. Do you agree? Explain.

    I disagree,
Bridge design is more concentrated on bridge engineer but architecture is more focused on the space analysis of people living and using, not just outside of the design as most people think, that look is also decided the function of interior space environment---that distinct outside look also makes the interior space interesting with people’s daily using. So it is the whole package, the great architect will always take care of both. So as we observe the Frank Gehry’s architecture on the airplane or watch it from far away, it is actually a stunning sculpture, and the beauty of the unique material itself, poly wood, sheet metal, chain-link fence and so on. It is already a material revolution---an innovation for the entire human spirit. For example, a fashion innovation of fabric, that makes us dress every single day for the different situation or pushes millions of factories to follow with it, and that leads the whole industry moving forward, also developing new styles for the next generation. It is an irony of human history, the architect needs the unique character to express the new concept or technology of today, rather than produce the similar building that they have done before. We need the aesthetics of the building because the aesthetic is breath with the function, special the space for public, such as museum, shopping mall, restaurant, garden and so on. These two elements are working together rather than understanding it separately. We need innovation along with our living our working our eating our dressing ,as I said ,aesthetically breathe with the function ,they help each other as a whole.

3.Some say Frank Gehry doesn't pay enough attention to the environment. Would these students agree with this criticism? Would you? Explain.

Some students may agree, some don’t.
    I disagree.
First, he used the existing and innovated material which are environmentally friendly and easy to produce without extra waste. For example, back the day the poly wood is innovated which is good for shape bending purposes for furniture.
Secondly, Frank Gehry’s designs often use irregular angles, it is important to stress, that design method are structurally sound for the environment, as we all heard about the fairy tale of “The Three Little Pigs”.
Next, his architectural works look like sculpture as we mentioned, and sculpture is actually a piece of beautiful artwork, and that helps building a better environment, it is not only distinguished with other architecture by its own character. But also it is a special unique form as a part for the Urban, It makes the environment happier and bring more excited experiences for people. And that makes the real difference.

  4. 1- Yhinny said Frank Gehry's buildings are all over the world. These buildings are not look like anything else it's Modern designs.
2- I disagree with Michael, because bridges have its own character and often are a classic design that's what I think the bridges must be classic designs.

3- Some students may agree, some don’t.

one of the students she said Frank Gehry used many old material, it's better than throw that away, and she said he use many materials that people didn't need it.If Frank Gehry doesn't use it, it would be thrown away, it can pollute the environment.

  5. 1. Her point is Frank Gehry’s building is not a traditional type. Not like anything else.

    2. I can’t agree. In my opinion, to design a bridge is completely different with design a building. Maybe someone is really good at design buildings but know nothing with build a bridge. Everyone have everyone’s special skill, and they should do what they good at, what they like.

    3. No. The students already said he is used many old material, it's better than throw that away. As for me, I think what he did nothing polluted; it’s what the buildings must have. You can say some companies don’t pay enough attention to the environment when they polluted them, but Frank doesn’t.

  6. 1- that means they are so distinct and modern and beautiful and that he built a lot of buildings in many places.

2- I agree, because he is so innovative and he might be so good in designing innovative bridges so that would be so helpful for big crowded cities and could save people's lives.

3- some will and some won't. I don't agree, he used old materials and that's good instead of throwing them away, so he utilized old materials.

  7. Thank you all for your comments. I agree with those of you who said that a building can be both beautiful and practical. It seems to me that Gehry was always trying to balance the artistic and the engineering aspects of architecture. It was never just one or the other.

  8. 1. Yinny says that Frank Gehry's building can't found all around world; it means his building not like traditional building. It is modern and special, not like anything else.

    2. No, I don't agree with Michael. because I think not only build bridge is practical, actually Frank Gehry's building not only beautiful and modern. it also resourceful and strong. his building use be museum and restaurant also are practical for people.

    3. No, they didn't agree with this criticism. I also disagree. I think Frank Gehry is a environmentalist, because he use simple material like plywood and sheet metal to build the building. his building is resourceful.
